South Surrey, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley men’s golf team finished third this past weekend, in the second of four PACWEST regular season golf tournaments. The Cascades now sit in second place overall in PACWEST, with 1,180 strokes, six behind the conference leaders, Camosun College Chargers. The Cascades are in a four way fight with Camosun, UBC-O and VIU for the PACWEST title midway through the season.
The Cascades shot a two-day total of 604 over the weekend good for a tie with UBC-O, 11 strokes off the leaders Camosun.
“We put ourselves into good position going into Sunday but couldn’t get the job done down the stretch. In the bigger picture though, we are right where we need to be in the overall standings at this stage of the season,” commented head coach Chris Bertram.
Pauls shot a two-day score of 147, good for second place.
The Cascades Aaron Pauls, Chilliwack, BC finished tied for second place with a two-day score of 147. Mitch Lock, Mission, BC finished fifth with a score of 148 and Darren Whitehouse, Langley, BC finished tied for tenth with a two-day total of 150. Both Pauls and Whitehouse are tied for second overall with a two-tournament score of 290, a mere two points off the leader Morgan Decksheimer of VIU.
The Cascades have a bye this weekend and PACWEST golf resumes the weekend of September 28 on the island, hosted by VIU.
