Humber College defeats UFV Cascades, 3-0, at CCAA National Championship


Cascades play in Consolation Round on Friday

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team were defeated by the Humber College Hawks, OCAA Champions, 3-0, in the CCAA women’s volleyball national championship quarterfinals, played at VIU, in Nanaimo, BC.

The Cascades, 2012 PACWEST silver medalists, will face Mount Saint Vincent University, in the second consolation semi-final, on Friday, March 9th at 3PM PST.  The MSVC Mystics were defeated by the host VIU Mariners, 3-0, in the final quarterfinal of the night.

The Hawks won the three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 27-25.  The sets were very competitive and the match very exciting, the Cascades just could not win that critical third set to get back into the match.

The Cascades registered 28 kills, a 0.43 attack percentage and 28 assists in the their first CCAA women’s volleyball quarterfinal championship tournament appearance.
