UFV Cascades Kayla Bruce named Women’s Volleyball All-Canadian (CCAA)
The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Kayla Bruce, Surrey, BC has been named to the 2012 CCAA All-Canadian women’s volleyball team.  The fourth year middle was selected the PACWEST women’s volleyball player of the year and first team all-star.  Kayla was the PACWEST women’s volleyball player of the month for December, 2011.  The History major also was the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat female athlete of the week twice during the 2011-12 campaign. 
The Cascades star also finished the year, in the PACWEST top ten, in numerous statistical categories, leading in aces with 73 for a 0.78 average, first in total blocks with 87 and was the overall total offensive statistics leader with a 4.10 average.

“Coming into this year Kayla had set high expectations of herself. Every player hopes to have as productive season as one like Kayla’s and it came from a lot of hard work. Kayla has bought into our system fully and has evolved into one of our leaders. She carries a lot of pride on our team’s success and embraces the moment each time we go out to perform. For her this is a great reward for her commitment to excellence and I am very happy for her to receive an All Canadian,” said UFV head coach Dennis Bokenfohr.

#3 in the PACWEST and CCAA in blocks per set at 0.94
#1 in the PACWEST and CCAA in total blocks 87

#10 in the PACWEST for kills per set 2.38 (#2 among the middles)

#1 in the PACWEST for aces per set 0.78

#1 in the PACWEST for total aces 73 (next closest has 43)

#1 in the PACWEST for total offense 4.10
