The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s basketball team will be participating in the CIS East Regional national tournament for the second straight year.
The Cascades finished fourth at the Canada West “Final Four” tournament and earn a berth in the East Regional and will face the defending OUA Champion University of Ottawa Gee Gees, on Friday, March 9th game time is set for 8PM EST.
The Cascades regular and post season record stands at 14-8 going into the two day tournament, the Cascades must win both games to advance to the CIS national championship tournament, in Calgary, Alberta, hosted by the Dinos, the weekend of March 16-18. The other East Regional semi-final game is between the AUS’ Cape Breton University Capers and the OUA’s University of Windsor Lancers, the defending CIS national champions.

*Media Note: As OUA Champions, the University of Ottawa has already qualified for the CIS “Final 8” tournament in Calgary, Alberta, so if Ottawa is in the Saturday night championship game, their opponent (Cape Breton or Windsor) automatically qualifies for the CIS “Final 8” Tournament.
