WhiteCaps Elite graduate Monika Levarsky joins Cascades!

September 25, 2013 - Whitecaps FC Elite Women - Team HeadshotsAbbotsford – The UFV Cascades women’s soccer team made its future a lot brighter last week with the signing of Whitecaps FC Girls Elite graduate Monika Levarsky. As one of the most promising women’s soccer  players in BC’s 2014 class, Levarsky is a key addition to the UFV roster as the team prepares for the coming season.

The 5-5 striker from Surrey, BC is the Cascades’ first major recruit of the year, and is coming to UFV from a truly elite squad that is also contributing seven players to NCAA Dl programs. Before her time with the Whitecaps, Levarsky spent three years on the BC Provincial Team, and won a provincial championship with her Metro squad, the Richmond Red Hot Selects, in 2012.

“Monika has a tremendous work ethic and has such a strong willingness to learn and improve,” says Whitecaps Girls Elite coach Jesse Symons. “She not only pushes herself, but also her teammates in each and every training session. Monika has an excellent attacking presence. She is always looking to score goals and, with her physical qualities, is a handful for any defensive unit.”

Levarsky herself says that she chose UFV because of the university’s strong business program, expanding soccer program, and because it’s a small community environment that is “close to home”.

“We are so excited that Monika has chosen to come to UFV and to be a member of our women’s soccer program,” says Cascades head coach Rob  Giesbrecht. “Monika is a natural finisher who possesses the athletic excellence and quality of character that we look for.  Monika will challenge immediately for a starting position and we are eagerly anticipating her contributions in the future.”
