Men’s Volleyball
Scoreboard: CBC Bearcats 3-0
The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades were defeated, 3-0, by the CBC Bearcats in the PACWEST men’s volleyball quarterfinals. The Cascades season ends with a 7-18 regular and post season record. The scores of the sets were 25-20, 25-23 and 25-14. The match was played at Douglas College in New Westminster.
The match was close between the two arch rivals through the first two sets with UFV having a great chance to pull even in the second set. The Bearcats won the third set by 11 points as they advance to the PACWEST semi-finals against Douglas College on Friday.
“The team played well in the first two sets. CBC are more experienced and were able to defeat us in the third set,” said UFV head coach Greg Russell.
UFV was led by PACWEST all-star Aaron Flanagan, Langley, BC with 17 total offensive points. Dillon Collett, Cloverdale, BC recorded 15 assists and Adam Chaplin, Mission, BC led UFV with 4 digs. Levi Devries, Aldergrove, BC recorded 7 kills in the loss to CBC. Flanagan was named UFV’s player of the match.
