Abbotsford, BC…..The UFV Cascades women’s basketball team are now ranked 3rd in the CIS top ten poll as they defeated Lethbridge, 70-32 on Friday and Calgary 60-32, on Saturday. UFV was in mid-season form as they held both their Canada West opponents to under 40 points per game. Kayli Sartori, Chilliwack, BC led the way with 22 points, including a game high 15 against Lethbridge. UFV will travel this weekend to Victoria to face the Vikes on Friday (November 8) and Saturday (November 9), the Vikes are 1-1 in the Pacific Division of Canada West splitting two weekend games in the Prairies defeating Brandon, 83-65 and falling to the defending CW champions Regina Cougars, 85-64.

The UFV Cascades men’s basketball team swept their Prairie opponents this past weekend defeating Lethbridge, 79-69, on Friday and Calgary, 71-56, on Saturday with a 33 point explosion in the fourth quarter. Manny Dulay a second year guard from Surrey, BC led UFV with 23 points on Saturday. The Cascades travel to Victoria to face the CIS number 4 ranked Vikes on Friday and Saturday night, U Victoria is also sporting a 2-0 record after week one of regular season play.

The women’s volleyball team, ranked number one in the CCAA top ten poll, host their arch rivals the VIU Mariners, ranked 7th in the CCAA top ten poll, this weekend, both schools are undefeated, VIU comes in at 8-0 and UFV at 6-0, the Cascades have already had their fall semester “bye.” Last year both teams split the regular season winning two each, and one each on the road. For the past two years they have been the most dominate teams in the PACWEST and ranked in the CCAA top three both seasons. UFV is the defending CCAA National champions, VIU won the national crown year before.
The UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team host VIU Mariners this weekend, as well, sporting a much improved 3-3 record, good for a three-way tie for 4th place. The Mariners are 2-6 this year and sit in last place in the conference. One team does not qualify for the six team post season tournament out of the seven teams.

Abbotsford Heat to honor Men’s and Women’s Golf Team on Saturday Night
The Abbotsford Heat (Calgary Flames AHL affiliate) will honor the 2013 CCAA National Champion UFV Cascades men’s and women’s golf teams this Saturday night (November 9th) when the Toronto Marlies (aka baby Maple Leafs) roll into town to face the Heat. UFV captured their first men’s and women’s CCAA national titles this past month in Quebec City, Quebec. Anyone interested in supporting the team’s night at the Abbotsford Entertainment Sports Centre can purchase tickets by calling the Heat Box Office at1- 866-977-2372, puck drop is set for 7pm on Saturday.
