Victoria, BC…..The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team swept their two game regular season series against the Camosun College Chargers this weekend in Victoria, BC. The Cascades defeated the Chargers, 3-1, on Friday night, by scores of 24-26, 25-13, 25-22 and 25-18, on Saturday UFV won 3-2, by scores of 22-25, 27-25, 25-21, 21-25 and 15-10. The Cascades are 6-0 and tied for first place with the VIU Mariners also perfect on the season after four weeks of regular season play.
“Tonight capped off a good weekend. Traditionally we seem to play long matches whenever we go to Victoria. It’s about getting results on the road. Simone (Hanson) and Kierra (Noot) were strong at the net again this weekend. They rose up to the challenge of giving Camosun left side trouble with their attack,” said UFV head coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
The UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team lost to the Camosun College Chargers, 3-0, on Friday night by scores of 23-25, 26-28 and 20-25, on Saturday the Cascades defeated the Chargers, 3-2, by scores of 17-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-22 and 15-11. The Cascades are 3-3 and in the mix for a playoff spot sitting in a three-way tie for third through fifth place with six team points.
UFV hosts the VIU Mariners next weekend at the Envision Athletic Centre. The women’s game times are 6pm on Friday and 1pm on Saturday. The men host VIU 8pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday.
