Abbotsford, BC….The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer team has earned the third and final post season berth in the Pacific Division of Canada West. The Cascades finished the 2013 campaign with a 6-7-1 record good for 19 points. They will beat out their arch rivals the TWU Spartans, who after today’s 1-1 tie with the University of Calgary Dinos, can only earn 18 team points for the year. This marks the school’s first post season appearance since joining Canada West eight years ago.
“Congratulations boys. For the first time in UFV’s CIS History, we are in the play-offs. I am very proud of you all and the hard work you put in to reach this accomplishment,” commented UFV head coach Alan Errington. The Canada West playoffs are hosted by the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, in Point Grey, next weekend from October 31 to November 3. UFV will play the second place team from the Prairie Division, next Thursday, October 31st. Canada West will “officially” send out the pairings and times on Monday (October 28th).
“Congratulations to our coaches and players! I am proud of you all!” commented UFV athletic Director Rocky Olfert.
