The second round of the 2013-14 PING CCAA Golf Championship was played this Thursday at the Royal Quebec Golf Course, Quebec City. Chair of the Championship, Christian Brosseau commented on the tournament so far saying “The second day proved to be more of a struggle for the players.  That has only made things more interesting as the competition is getting closer on the men’s and women’s side.”

Fraser Valley University (PACWEST) is still ahead of the competition both in the men’s and women’s team competition.

The Lady Cascades lead by 18 strokes over their closest competition, St. Clair College (OCAA).  Humber Hawks (OCAA) follow closely in third place, three strokes behind St. Clair.

On the men’s side, the Cascades have a six stroke lead, ahead of defending champions Humber Hawks, while Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ), the top Quebec team is in third place seven strokes behind Humber.

On the individual side, Colton Kalkanis, from Georgian College (OCAA) played another excellent round of 68 to take the lead of the men’s standing over Alex Dumais from Humber College.  Dumais is now tied for second place with Darren Whitehouse (Fraser Valley) and Kyle Morrison (Red Deer College/ACAC), five shots behind Kalkanis.  The best Quebec golfer is Etienne Papineau, from Champlain St. Lawrence, who sits in seventh place seven shots behind the lead.
