Women sweep UBC-O and Peninsula College this weekend.
Abbotsford, BC…..The UFV Cascades women’s soccer team win their final two preseason exhibition games before the 2013 Canada West regular season begins next weekend. The Cascades defeated UBC-O Heat on Friday night (August 30th) 6-2 on the strength of first year forward Amanda Carruthers, Calgary, Alberta hat trick. Carly Radomski, Langley, BC, Danica Kump, Surrey, BC and Shelby Beck, Langley, BC rounded out the scoring for UFV.
Kayla Klim, Burnaby, BC earned the victory in the Cascades net playing 72 minutes before giving way to rookie Emily Harold, Langley, BC.
On Sunday, September 1st, UFV defeated the Peninsula College Pirates (NWAACC), 3-0, at Townsend Park, in Chilliwack. The Cascades goals were scored by Kump, Beck and Nicole Verdonk, Chilliwack, BC. Rookie goalkeepers Harold and Risa Venuto, Langley, BC split the shutout victory in the Cascades net.
Colton O’Neill played the entire game as UFV fell to Peninsula, 3-1
UFV Cascades men soccer team were defeated by Peninsula College Pirates, 3-1, at Townsend Park, in Chilliwack, BC today. James Najman, Coquitlam, BC scored the Cascades lone goal, in the first half. Mark Village, Abbotsford, BC gave up all three goals to the Pirates including the match winner a penalty kick midway through the half. Arturo Ortiz, Veracruz, Mexico held Peninsula College off the scoreboard in the second half for UFV.
