Bethany Whitehead and Becky Hildebrandt, women’s rowing team, and Connor Richey, men’s golf team are the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, October 9th, 2011.
Hildebrandt and Whitehead finished third but had a great start to the race. They finished behind UBC and Victoria at Burnaby Lake. “They are both powerful women, but need some extra time in the boat to have caught UBC and Victoria,” said Head Coach Liz Chisholm. This was the Cascades women’s rowing team’s first race of the 2011 regular season.

Richey led the men’s golf team to the 2011 PACWest Silver medal and a berth in the 2011 CCAA national championship tournament in PEI. The first year Robert Creek native shot 146 for the two days to place 5th overall. He was one of four Cascades in the weekend’s top ten.
