The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s golf team earned the 2011PACWest Silver Medal and a trip to the 2011 CCAA National Championship Golf tournament in Charlottetown, PEI. The CCAA Championship is from October 17 to 21. The Cascades finished with a four tournament total of 2,359, missing the conference title by 4 strokes to Camosun College. The Cascades earned the CCAA berth by one stroke over third place Capilano University.
The Cascades won the fourth and final PACWest regular season tournament, held at the Chilliwack Golf & Country Club. The team’s two-day score was 587, two strokes better than second place Camosun College with 589. Connor Richey, Roberts Creek, BC led all Cascades with a two day total of 146, good for tie for 5thplace. Mitch Lock, Mission, BC finished tied for 8th place with a score of 147. Aaron Pauls, Chilliwack, BC and Darren Whitehouse, Langley, BC each tied for 10th with scores of 148.

“The boys stepped up this weekend and played great when the chips were down. We are going into Nationals on a roll and on a course that sets up very well for us. We are excited to get to PEI and get to work,” said Head Coach Chris Bertram.
