Shopland, a first year Arts major from Langley, BC helped the UFV Cascades to a 2-0 victory over the University of Lethbridge on Saturday and was the “player of the Match’ in the Cascades 1-0 loss to the University of Calgary, on Sunday. The midfielder played exceptionally well all weekend winning the midfield battles for UFV and controlling the majority of the play leading to several good scoring chances during both matches.
“Macki possesses a great balance of aggression and composure. She had two great games this weekend and has transitioned very well to the demands of CIS soccer,” said Rob Giesbrecht, head coach.

Phagura, a first year defender from Abbotsford, BC was named “Player of the Match” in the Cascades 0-0 tie with the University of Victoria, on Saturday. The Business major played a key role in UFV’s strong defensive performance against the very talented Vikes offense. This marks the second time this year Phagura was named “Player of the Match.” “He gave us a strong showing and helped us secure the point’” said Alan Errington, head coach.
