Today’s game was very competitive with Alberta jumping out to an early lead with a goal midway through the first half. The Pandas would add a second goal before the half to take a two goal lead into the break. UFV came out strong in the second half and started to pressure the Pandas defense. Megan Webster, Abbotsford, BC would put UFV on the board seven minutes into the second half and narrow Alberta’s lead to one.
The Cascades continued to pressure for the tying goal before the Pandas Amanda Black, Edmonton, AB scored the insurance goal to give Alberta their fourth league victory of the season.
“We played an excellent Alberta team today and came up short. In the first half we were punished twice for allowing our opponents to have time and space in a dangerous part of the field. We had a bright start to the second half and were rewarded with a nice goal by Megan Webster. Unfortunately as we opened up and searched for the equalizing goal they scored to put the game out of reach,” said Rob Giesbrecht.
