UFV Cascades varsity teams help students move into Baker House!

With a day off from CIS and CCAA competition, members of the women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s rowing and soccer teams helped the staff at Residence Life move in the new students for the 2011-2012 school year.  Each year the Cascades volunteer their services to make the students, moving into Baker House, feel welcome!  Baker House has been a great supporter of the nine varsity programs at UFV.

“I think it is great to work with Residence Life and other departments on campus.  It gives our department a higher profile and shows we really do care about our colleagues and the student body,” said Liz Chisholm, Head Coach of the Cascades men’s and women’s rowing teams.

The Cascades also participated in a radio show today on CIVL 101.7FM, along with Station Manager Aaron Levy, Ryan Liddiard, a second year striker from Kamloops, BC, first year defender  Alanna  Blumhagen, Calgary, Alberta and Residence Life Manager, Tracey Mason-Innes talked about the positive attributes of living in Baker House and participating on one of the nine Cascade varsity teams.

“A big thank you goes to the athletes and Athletics staff for helping our staff and volunteers make today’s move-in a success!  We had great representation from Rowing, Women’s Basketball, Men and Women’s Soccer, and Men’s Volleyball.  The athletes were great ambassadors for the Cascades, always willing to haul boxes, and chat to the residents about their sports.  Of course, we always welcome a visit from Sasq’ets (our favorite local mascot) and look forward to cheering on the Cascades this year!  Thanks again for your support, Go Cascades Go!!” said Junelle Mah, Housing Assistant, Residence Life.
