The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society and Department of Athletics are pleased to announce their 2011-12 partnership. During the upcoming school year, both the SUS and the Cascades will work together to enhance the experience of the UFV student body at Athletics events and varsity games. The Student Union Society and the Department of Athletics are proud to announce they have come to an agreement allowing the UFV student body free admission to all Cascades varsity volleyball, basketball and soccer games in 2011-12.
In addition, the SUS will again promote varsity games through their web site and sponsor the nine halftime shooting contests at the basketball games in Envision Athletic Centre. The Student Union Society will also play a large role in supporting the September 9th Tailgate Party and sponsor the September 29th Presidents Academic All-Canadian BBQ, honouring the student-athletes who achieved an 80 or higher average and participated on one of the nine varsity teams in 2010-11.
“The Student Union Society Board is extremely excited to be able to sponsor our members’ admission to the Cascades home games at the Envision Athletic Centre again this year,” said Carlos Vidal, UFV Student Union Society President. “We’re looking at really stepping up our support of the Cascades and having all kinds of opportunities to engage our members around the festivities of basketball and volleyball home games, and of course giving them the opportunity to experience the Cascades spirit!
“This partnerships illustrates well what we can do when we work together to enhance the university experience,” says UFV President Mark Evered. “Thank you to the SUS and the Department of Athletics for their commitment and leadership.”
