Cascades host Tailgate Party on Friday, September 9th

Friday, September 9th, the UFV Cascades Department of Athletics with the support of Student Life, Student Union Society and Residence Life will be running a Tailgate Party and free basketball game for all  students interested in coming out and seeing what is available from Campus Recreation Programs (Student Life) and Athletics (9 Varsity programs).

The afternoon starts at 5:00PM in Parking Lot 10 with a tail gate party, there will be tables set up for students to inquire about intramurals, club programs and other organizations wishing to operate a table.  Athletics will also operate a varsity and membership information table.  There will also be opportunities for students to shoot hoops, shoot on a hockey net and play volleyball outside from 5:00PM to 6:45PM. UFV’s CIVL radio station 101.7FM will supply the music with a live remote.

At 6:45PM the students will be escorted into the Envision Athletic Centre to watch an exhibition men’s basketball game between Steve Nash’s alma mater Santa Clara University Broncos (NCAA) and our UFV Cascades (CIS).  Game time is 7:00PM.  There will be lots of prises for students to win all night including a half time shooting contest with gifts courtesy of SUS.  Our neighbours, the Abbotsford Heat hockey team, will donate two replica hockey jerseys to be given away during the day’s events.
