“The department is excited above this event! The theme is all about “building a stronger community” and keeping our Fraser Valley student athletes in the Valley,” said Rick Nickelchok, UFV Cascades Director of Athletics.
Tony Waiters -former Head Coach of Canada’s National Soccer team
The Cascades are also pleased to announce Tony Waiters, the former Head Coach of Canada’s National Soccer team as the Guest Speaker at the “Breakfast of Champions.” Waiters guided Canada (Canadian Soccer Association) to its only berth in the FIFA World Cup, in 1986, in Mexico. “The only way to the top is through hard work,” said Waiters as he accepted the UFV’s offer to be the inaugural guest speaker.
The UFV Cascades student-athletes, coaches and staff are very excited to see the launch of the inaugural Breakfast of Champions. “I think this is a crucial event in so many ways for our university and our athletic department. This will go a long way in assisting our athletes in the pursuit of their athletic goals while maintaining success in the classroom and in many cases continuing to serve the community in so many positive ways. At the same time UFV athletics can continue to grow our brand and profile in the Fraser Valley community,“ said Al Tuchscherer, Head Coach women’s basketball team.
