Joel Friesen, Abbotsford, BC registered back to back 23 point games, for 46 points total over the weekend in UFV’s men’s basketball team split their weekend with the University of Winnipeg . While shooting 16 for 26 from the floor for 61% and 5 for 9 from the arc, for 55 Percent. The Kinesiology major also went 9 for 10 from the line. Adding 6 rebounds, 5 assists in keeping UFV alive for a post season berth. The Cascades defeated Winnipeg, 75-68, Saturday, and fell to the Wesmen, on Friday, 88-73.
“Friesen played very well this weekend leading us to victory tonight with a team high 23 point performance, 4 assists and 4 rebounds,” said UFV Head Coach Barnaby Craddock.

Nikita Savoy, Surrey, BC helped the UFV Cascades women’s volleyball team improve their BCCAA record to 7-5 with a pair of victories, over the weekend, against The College of the Rockies. They defeated COTR 3-1, on Friday and 3-0, on Saturday.
Savoy recorded a 0.588 hitting percentage with 11 kills on Friday and in Saturday’s game the rookie led UFV with 13 digs.
“Tonight our spin servers (Kim Mintenko, Nikita Savoy and Kayla Bruce) were on and accumulated 22 aces,” said UFV Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
