Elliott & Klassen UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week

James Elliott, a fifth year veteran from Perth, Western Australia helped lead the men’s basketball team to an important victory on Friday night, against the University of Alberta, 80-69, with 7 points and 8 rebounds.  In Saturday’s loss to Alberta, 84-70, the veteran Business major was the top Cascade with 20 points and 4 rebounds.  Elliott averaged 13.5 points per game over the weekend as UFV held onto the 8th and final Canada West playoff spot with a 6-10 record.

Tessa Klassen, a fourth year veteran from Winnipeg, Manitoba chipped in with 14 points, 4 assists and 3 steals in the Cascades women’s basketball victory over the University of Alberta Pandas, on Friday, 69-63.  On Saturday in the Cascades loss 70-52, the Arts major led UFV with 18 points and 3 assists.  Klassen averaged 16 points per game over the weekend as UFV remained in 7th Place with a 9-9 Canada West regular season record.
