Cascades swept by UBC as they fall, 72-47, on Saturday, in Vancouver, BC.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades were swept by the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds this weekend, as they fell for the second straight night, in Vancouver, 72-47.  The Cascades Canada West regular season record falls to 2-6.  UFV returns home next weekend to face Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack, at the Envision Athletic Centre.

The game was close in the first half as UFV stayed with UBC trailing only by 5-points after the first quarter.  The second quarter saw UFV cut into that 5-point lead before being outscored down the stretch as the Thunderbirds went into the locker room, at the half, up by 7-points.

It would be the third quarter that would do in the Cascades as they managed only 2-points in the frame, while seeing UBC out score them by 15-points to take a commanding 22-point lead into the final quarter.  The Cascades would not recover as they lose by a season high 25-points.

The Cascades were led by Tessa Klassen, Winnipeg, Manitoba with a team high 12-point performance.  Sarah Wierks, Chilliwack, BC added 9-points and Nicole Wierks, Chilliwack, BC 7-points in the loss.  Nicole and Sarah (Wierks) each pulled down a team high 5-total rebounds.
Klassen led all Cascades at halftime with 9-points.  The Cascades were held to 29.3 per cent shooting, and hit less than 18 per cent of their second half shots.
