Lyndsay Munro, a fifth year defender from Maple Ridge, BC was selected to the 2010 Canada West second all-star team. The Business Administration major becomes the first University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer player to earn Canada West All-Star honours.
Munro was instrumental in leading the Cascades to their first ever Canada West post season berth, as UFV finished in third place and will play TWU, tomorrow, in the programs first playoff game. Lyndsay played in all 14 games and was credited with one assist and named “Player of the Match” twice during the regular season.
“I am very proud of Lyndsay, she is so deserving of this recognition. She has had a fabulous season, consistently providing the on-field leadership that has propelled our team our first appearance at the Canada West championships, ” said UFV Head Coach Rob Giesbrecht. “Lyndsay anchors our back four and her outstanding play has allowed us to be a difficult team to play against. Lyndsay passionately pursues excellence and has contributed immensely to the growth of UFV women’s soccer.”
“This is a great honour to be the first Cascade women’s soccer player selected a Canada West All-Star,” said Munro. ” I hope this leads to many other Cascades being named an All-Star in the future.”
