The University of Calgary Dino defeated UFV Cascades, 2-1, at Bateman Park, in Abbotsford, BC. The Cascades record falls to 3-10-0 for 9-points with tomorrow’s match against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns their final game of the 2010 Canada West regular season.
The Cascades spotted the Dinos a goal in the third minute of play but settled down to tie the match 14 minutes later on Brent Wantke, Langley, BC goal, his third of the 2010 regular season campaign. The match was tied at one going into the half.
The second half started with Calgary pressuring UFV and they were rewarded when the referee called for a penalty kick two minutes in, Izak Lawrence, Calgary, AB scored to give the Dinos a one goal lead. Both teams had opportunities to score, but the game was settled on the penalty kick as Calgary earned their 8th Canada West victory of the season.
“Another competitive performance by the team but again on the wrong end of a 2-1 score.” said UFV Head Coach Alan Errington. “We had enough chances to win, but it was not to be!”
