Sasa Plavsic, Men’s Soccer and Megan Webster, Women’s Soccer are the Abbotsford Heat/UFV Cascades Athletes of the Week, for the week ending, Sunday, October 24th, 2010.
Plavsic, a second year Kinesiology major, from Coquitlam, BC scored both goals in UFV victory over TWU, 2-1, on Saturday, October 23rd, at Bateman Park. The midfielder was named “Player of the Match” for his play both on offense and defense in shutting down the high powered TWU offense from tying the game in the final minutes. “Sasa played a complete two-way game for us on Saturday, he was excellent,” said UFV Head Coach Alan Errington. Plavsic also picked up an assist in the loss to UBC.
Webster, a true captain on the weekend, the veteran midfielder from Abbotsford, BC scored twice in the crucial victory over Regina, 2-0, on Sunday and the game clincher on Saturday, in UFV’s 3-1 victory. The Criminal Justice major now has 4 goals on the Canada West season. It is the second time Webster has earned the Athlete of the Week award this year. “I am very proud of Megan, she led by example on the weekend in two very important games we needed to win,” said UFV Head Coach Rob Giesbrecht.
