Ellen Kuyer, Women’s Soccer and Ravi Singh, Men’s Soccer are Abbotsford Heat/UFV Cascades Athletes of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, October 10, 2010.

Kuyer scored three times in the second half of Saturday’s, 4-3 victory over UBC, in Vancouver. While Ellen did not record an assist it was the fourth year Business major’s hard work that set up the fourth UFV goal as well.  Ellen was the Cascade Player of the Match against UBC.

In Friday’s tie against TWU, Ellen created the opportunity that led to the first goal and gave UFV a lead which they held for close to 60 minutes before TWU tied he match.

Kuyer has been a large reason why the Cascades are unbeaten in four straight against Nationally Ranked UBC & TWU, both CWUAA regular season series the Cascades have won!

Singh was excellent in the middle of the field on Saturday, shutting down the University of Victoria’s top strikers and closing out any midfield runs that Victoria attempted to build any moment against the UFV defense as the Cascades defeated Victoria, 3-0, to win their second CWUAA regular season game and win the 2010 season series from Victoria 5 goals to 3.

The first year Kinesiology major, from Abbotsford played a great two-way game often making tackles in the back and then sending the ball forward to the Cascade strikers.
