Cascades finish in Second Place, at UFV Invitational Golf Tournament, in Chilliwack.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s golf team finished in second place at their own invitational, held at the Chilliwack Golf & Country Club, in Chilliwack, BC.   The Cascades finished the two-day event with a team score of 592, 5 strokes behind the tournament Champion, VIU, with  a team score of 587.  The Cascades Mitch Lock, a fourth year General Studies major, from Mission, BC won the individual category of tournament with a two-day score of 138.

“It was great to see Mitch get the win.  He’s been so close so many times, and he really deserved it this weekend going 4 under par in some tough conditions,” said UFV Head Coach Chris Bertram.
The Cascades have now finished in the top three in both BCCAA golf tournaments this season, first at Kwantlen last weekend and second this past weekend.
“I was proud of how the boys bounced back after a disappointing opening round.  We are right in the mix for the provincial title, and I am confident our depth is soon going to start showing through,” said Bertram.

The Cascades Brett Stewart, a fifth year General Studies major, from Abbotsford, BC and Brett Webster, a fourth year Business major, from Abbotsford, BC both finished tied for 5th with a two-day individual score of 146.  Mike Broadfoot, a fourth year General Studies major from Abbotsford, BC finished right behind them, in 8th with a score of 147.
