UFV Cascades Men’s golf team win Kwantlen Golf Tournament

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s golf team won the Kwantlen Golf Tournament, this past weekend, to “tee off” the 2010 BCCAA golf season with a win and hold onto their Number One ranking in the BCCAA.

The Cascades won the tournament by 3-strokes with a total team score of 449, over Vancouver Island University, with a team score of 452.  8 universities and colleges participated in the tournament.
“There were a few nerves on the course to be sure, but regardless, I was pleased to see we could grind out the win with less than our best stuff, ” said UFV Head Coach Chris Bertram.

Led by veterans Ian Mulder, a first year General Studies major, from Abbotsford, BC with a two-day total of 110 in the individual categoey and  Brett Webster, a fourth year Business major, from Abbotsford, BC with a two day total of 110, in the team category.

The Cascades placed 4 golfers in the top ten, as Mike Broadfoot, a fourth year General Studies Abbotsford native is ranked third with a score of 111 and Mitch Lock, a fourth year General Studies major from Mission, BC is 7th with a two-day score of 112.

“It was great to start the season off with a hard fought win in some pretty difficult weather conditions, but I don’t think we saw the best of this team this past weekend, ” said Bertram.
