Brent Wantke, Men’s Soccer and Megan Webster, Women’s Soccer are the Abbotsford Heat/UFV Cascades Athletes of the Week.
Wantke, a third year midfielder from Langley, BC was named player of the match in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Lethbridge. The Criminology major was outstanding controlling the midfield all weekend long and played a large part in the Cascades brief comeback. from two goals down, on Sunday against Calgary, before eventually falling late in the match, 4-2. “His leadership was outstanding on and off the field this past weekend,” said UFV Soccer Coach Alan Errington.

Webster, a fourth year midfielder from Abbotsford, BC was instrumental in the Cascades 1-0 victory over Manitoba on Sunday. In addition to scoring the match winning goal her leadership on the pitch helped the young Cascades as the Bisons pressured for the tying goal late in the game. Webster was named Player of the match for UFV in both weekend games. “Great leadership, Megan never stopped in both games on the weekend,” said Women’s Soccer Coach Rob Giesbrecht.
