BC All-Star Spencer Evans commits to Cascades MBB

ABBOTSFORD, BC- The newest addition to the University of the Fraser Valley Men’s Basketball Team is 6’6” Pitt Meadows guard Spencer Evans. During the 2009-2010 season, Spencer led Pitt Meadows to a 4th place finish in AAA Provincials, and was named a Provincial second team All-Star.

“Spencer has a big upside, and will fit in well with our program” said Cascades Head Coach Barnaby Craddock. “He can really shoot the ball, and his experience playing the point in high school has helped develop some solid leadership and ball-handling skills”.

Evans, who has been accepted into the UFV Business Administration Program, grew up in the Fraser Valley and has been a team captain and a key contributor to the successes of the Marauders (Pitt Meadows) basketball program over the past 4 years. Averaging 18 points per game in 2008-09, and 19 points per game in 2009-2010, Spencer also received a AAA All-Star nod at the Fraser Valley Championships along with his AAA Provincial All-Star award.

“UFV has a great business program, and I am excited about the success and direction the program is moving in”, stated Evans. “I’m looking forward to getting started at UFV, and playing at the next level with my new teammates and Coach Craddock”.

“Spencer was the point guard and captain on his team for multiple years at Pitt Meadows,” commented Craddock. “Those are major signs of the strong character he possesses and the type of young man we want in our program.”

The Cascades finished the 2009-2010 season with an 11-7 record, which earned them a third place finish in the Canada West Pacific Division and their second playoff-appearance in the last three years.
