Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr is pleased to announce the commitment of two standout student athletes from Surrey. Nikita Savoy and DJ Fransisco will suit up and where the Cascade colours this fall.
DJ (Denise Joy), a graduate from Johnston Heights Secondary School will be entering the Faculty of Arts in September. A 5’7” Setter, DJ, an exciting player, played for Team BC Volleyball 16&U and 17&U. She is also an Honour Roll student with a 90% average.
“I chose to go to UFV primarily because it’s a great school,” noted DJ Fransisco. “I’ve heard many good things from countless resources and that it’s close to home. It’s got small class sizes which allows for more interaction and a better chance for learning. I wanted to become a Cascade because the team environment is amazing. It makes me want to be there, makes me want to be a part of something that’s already solid and promising.”
“DJ is a talented player and I am excited to have her join the Cascades next year,” stated Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr. “I was fortunate to coach her the last couple of years in the club program and watch her develop all aspects of her game. One of her greatest strengths is how she relentlessly competes on the volleyball court. She brings her work ethic to practice every day and gives her all.”
Nikita Savoy, another very successful graduate of Johnston Heights Secondary, will be entering into general studies in September at UFV. A 5’9” Power Left side, Nikita has been a strong member of the Focus Club Volleyball club for the past two years.
“I have been playing volleyball for several years now and I love the game,” commented Savoy. “I am honored to have this opportunity to play for the Cascades and believe that I can contribute to the team with my motivation. I wanted to play for the Cascades because I believe that it has an excellent volleyball team which consists of great girls and an excellent coaching staff. Playing for the Cascades will provide me with great training and an excellent atmosphere to build my skill level and memories.”
“Nikita played the last 2 years with Focus Volleyball Club where she has developed her aggressive style of play, said Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr. “It was also the club team that I coached and was able to watch her develop her many skills. She is the type of athlete that can do it all and learns quickly. She has played the exact style of volleyball that the UFV women play today and the transition should be seamless in becoming a Cascade.”
