Daniel Campbell of the University of the Fraser Valley men’s golf team was named a CCAA All-Canadian at the national awards banquet on Monday evening in Medicine Hat, Alta.
It’s the second straight All-Canadian nod for Campbell, who counted that accolade among his incredible awards haul from 2017-18. The Bellingham, Wash. product won the PACWEST, CCAA and Canadian University/College individual championships last season, leading the Cascades men to team titles at each. He also took home UFV’s male athlete of the year award (shared with wrestler Brad Hildenbrandt) and the PACWEST male athlete of the year award.
This fall, Campbell has picked up right where he left off. He earned PACWEST all-star honours after finishing second overall during the conference’s three regular-season tournaments, accruing 427 total strokes for a 71.2 scoring average per round. He followed that up with a decisive victory at the PACWEST championship tournament, finishing four strokes clear of the field as the Cascades men’s team won by 18.
Campbell and the No. 1-ranked Cascades tee off the CCAA Golf National Championships at Medicine Hat’s Desert Blume Golf Club on Tuesday, seeking to defend their 2017 individual and team titles. Live scoring is available here.
UFV head coach Chris Bertram was a nominee for the CCAA coach of the year award – an accolade he’s received on three prior occasions (2013, 2014 and 2016) – but this year’s award went to Colin Robertson of the Fanshawe Falcons.
