Bardock’s stellar debut nets PACWEST athlete of the week award

Emery Bardock of the University of the Fraser Valley golf program has been named the PACWEST female golf athlete of the week.

Bardock, a first-year Cascade in her second season of eligibility from Armstrong, B.C., was a winner in her first career PACWEST tournament, claiming the women’s individual title at the UBC Okanagan Invitational on the weekend. She fired rounds of 77 and 78 at Okanagan Golf Club to finish nine strokes ahead of teammate Hannah Dirksen.

Bardock’s outstanding debut helped the Cascades earn a decisive victory in the women’s team competition, as well. UFV’s two-round team score of 319 was 28 strokes better than runner-up UBC Okanagan.

The Cascades are off to Parksville this weekend for the Vancouver Island University Invitational at Morningstar Golf Club. It’s the second of four PACWEST tourneys, and conference champions are decided based on cumulative scores from the four events.
