UFV Cascades tie Victoria Vikes at Bateman Park.
The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer team broke their five game losing streak with a scoreless draw with the University of Victoria Vikes, at Bateman Park. The Cascades Canada West regular season record improves to 1-5-1 for 4 points.
The Cascades played well and gave the more experienced veteran Victoria team a run for their money this afternoon. Led by second year goalkeeper, Jacob Kubanski, Chilliwack, BC, the Cascades defense shutout the powerful Victoria offense. UFV had several quality chances in both halves to break the draw less tie but the Vikes goalkeeper Elliott Mitrou, Victoria, BC stood his ground and also earned a shutout on this day.
“Happy to have a clean sheet and earn a point, we had chances to win the game, but to be fair, so did Victoria. We need to be a little better at finishing games off,” said Head Coach Alan Errington.
The Vikes and Cascades play again tomorrow in Victoria, game rime is set for 12PM.
