Abbotsford, BC…The Canadian Soccer Association have given current FC Edmonton head coach, and former UFV Cascades Coach, Colin Miller the interim head coach job of the Men’s National Soccer team. The CSA will continue the search for the full time head coach while Miller will lead the team in a January, 2013 preseason camp. The squad will also play two friendlies against Denmark in Tucson, AZ on January 26th and against the USA on January 29th in Houston, TX.
The January matches mark the beginning of Canada’s preparations for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, slated for July in the U.S., should Canada not have a coach in place before then, Miller will coach the squad during the tournament.
Miller was born in Scotland and played for the Canadian national team 61 times during his international career. The Abbotsford, BC resident has been an assistant coach with the Canadian national team before. He has also spent time as an assistant with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Miller served as UFV Cascades women’s soccer coach 2008-2010 and as Assistant coach of the men’s soccer program this past year 2012-13. Currently, Miller will begin his first season as head coach of FC Edmonton of the NASL.
