New direction for UFV women’s volleyball program

The University of the Fraser Valley athletic department announced today that women’s volleyball head coach Dennis Bokenfohr’s contract will not be renewed for the 2015-16 season.

“We would like to thank Dennis for all he has done for women’s volleyball at UFV,” Cascades interim athletic director Chris Bertram said. “He’s been a tremendous asset to the department and achieved some great successes with the program. We wish him well in all his future endeavors.”

Bokenfohr, a former player with the UFV men’s volleyball program, recently completed his seventh season as head coach of the Cascades women’s team. He guided the squad to a Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) bronze medal in 2011-12, and a PacWest conference title and a CCAA gold medal in 2012-13. The Cascades posted a 13-11 regular season record in 2014-15, good for fourth place in the PacWest, and were eliminated in the conference quarter-finals by the College of the Rockies Avalanche.

UFV will begin the search for a new women’s volleyball head coach immediately.
