UFV Cascades lose to Camosun Chargers, 3-1, at Envision Athletic Centre

Abbotsford, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades were defeated tonight by the Camosun College Chargers, 3-1, at the Envision Athletic Centre.  The Cascades PACWEST record falls to 0-3.  The Cascades host Camosun College tomorrow afternoon at 3PM.  Tonight’s scores were 15-25. 26-24, 19-25, 18-25.


 

The Chargers came out and quickly established the lead winning the first set by 10 points.  While UFV rebounded to win set two, it was all Camosun the rest of the way as they improve their PACWEST record to 2-1 on the young season.  Connor Nickel, a second year middle, from Abbotsford, BC played well with 7 points of offence (5 kills and 2 blocks), and Josh Togeretz, Yarrow, BC contributed 8 points of offence (6 kills, 1 block, 1 ace). Victor Zych, Coquitlam, BC performed well on the defensive end with 12 digs.

 


 

“Camosun came out aggressive and controlled the ball very well.  A lot of our players coming off the bench made good contributions, but we’ll need to take it to the next level tomorrow to equalize the weekend series,” commented assistant coach Carl Nienhuis.
