Abbotsford, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team defeated the Camosun College Chargers, 3-1, to improve their PACWEST regular season record to a perfect 3-0. The Cascades host Camosun tomorrow at 1PM, at the EAC. The set scores were 19-25, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-23.
The Cascades started slowly as Camosun won the first set by six points. The Cascades would settle down after the first set to dominate the remainder of the match, winning the next three sets to earn the conference win. The Cascades were led by Krista Hogewoning, Delta, BC who led UFV in almost all categories tonight with 16 kills, 4 blocks and 10 digs. The 2012 UFV Cascades Female Rookie of the Year was a dominant force who Coach Dennis Bokenfohr credits with igniting the team after the initial set. ” We eventually were able to wear down Camosun led by Krista Hogewoning.” Krista was named the Cascades “player of the match.”
“Tonight was another solid win for the ladies. Although we started really slow, things started going our way at the back end of the first set. Chantal Bruce, Surrey, BC provided great energy tonight, lifting us out of our early funk. It was a commitment to aggressive volleyball that paid off in the end, ” said Bokenfohr.
The Cascades look to continue their domenince on their home court, they have lost only since in the past two years at the EAC.
