Cascades’ Parchment named Canada West third star

Parchment 3stars instaKevon Parchment of the University of the Fraser Valley men’s basketball team has been named the Canada West male third star of the week.

The fifth-year guard from Scarborough, Ont. continued his remarkable all-around campaign with a pair of standout performances in the Cascades’ weekend sweep of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at the Envision Athletic Centre.

Parchment racked up a season-high 33 points, along with 14 rebounds and four assists, to spark Friday’s 82-79 win over the No. 9-ranked team in the nation. He was at it again on Saturday, posting 20 points, seven boards, seven assists and three steals in a 67-62 victory.

Parchment ranks among the conference’s leaders in scoring (18.3 ppg, sixth), rebounding (9.6, fifth), assists (5.2, second), blocks (1.3, seventh) and steals (1.8, 11th).

The Canada West male first and second stars, respectively, were Thomas Cooper of the Calgary Dinos (basketball) and Josh Bodnarchuk of the Saskatchewan Huskies (wrestling).

The playoff-bound UFV men’s basketball team (12-6) has clinched second place in the Explorer Division, and wraps up the regular season on the road this weekend vs. the Mount Royal Cougars.
