After a one-week absence, the University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer team is back in the CIS top-10 rankings.
In the new poll released Tuesday, the Cascades check in at No. 10 in the nation. Head coach Rob Giesbrecht’s squad is coming off a thrilling 3-0 playoff upset of the then-No. 5 Victoria Vikes on Saturday in the Canada West quarter-finals.
That result earned the Cascades a spot in the conference’s Final Four, hosted by Trinity Western University. UFV takes on the CIS No. 7-ranked Alberta Pandas in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at TWU Rogers Field, and a victory would clinch a trip to nationals in Quebec City the following week (Nov. 6-9). The Canada West bronze and gold medal games are at Rogers Field on Saturday, at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
