Cascades athletes launch ‘Walk and Knock’ food drive on Oct. 29

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, athletes from the University of the Fraser Valley will be participating in their annual pre-Halloween “Walk and Knock” food drive.

Cascades athletes will be going from door to door in local neighbourhoods between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., soliciting donations of non-perishable food items for the Abbotsford Food Bank. In exchange, donors will receive free tickets to UFV sporting events.

Last year, the Cascades collected 25 boxes of food for the food bank. Anyone wishing to donate can drop off non-perishable items at UFV’s Envision Athletic Centre during the hours of the event, or can go directly to the Abbotsford Food Bank (abbotsfordfoodbank.com).

“This is a wonderful initiative and another great example of the types of community outreach our UFV student-athletes engage in on a regular basis,” Cascades acting athletic director Chris Bertram said.
