Abbotsford, BC—Two years ago it was a last second victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns that launched the UFV Cascades men’s basketball team to a tremendous post-season and a fourth-place finish at the CIS national tournament. This year the Cascades hope to rekindle some of that old magic as they once again face the Pronghorns in the Canada West Quarter-Finals.
UFV will play host to a best-of-three series against Lethbridge at the Envision Athletic Centre in Abbotsford, starting this Thursday (Feb 20), and continuing on Friday and Saturday (if necessary). The Cascades finished the season second in the Pacific division with a 17-5 record and riding a 14 game win streak, while the Pronghorns, at 15-7, took third in the Prairie division. Lethbridge has the most potent scoring offense in the CW, averaging 84.3 points per game.
The last time the two teams met was in the first weekend of the 2013-2014 season. UFV won the game 79-69 at home at the EAC.
