Cascades took care of business in eleventh straight win

The UFV Cascades men’s basketball team (14-5) beat the UNBC Timberwolves (4-15) by a score of 87-62 tonight in Prince George, BC. The Cascades led by as many as thirty points during the game, and rained threes all night long on their way to a .492 field goal percentage and a .424 three point percentage. They now sit comfortably in second place in the Pacific Division, two games up on the TRU WolfPack (12-7) with only three games remaining in the season.

The Cascades entered halftime with a 20 point, 48-28 lead, relentlessly pursuing their eleventh win and never allowing the Timberwolves any hope. Kevon Parchment poured in 24 points (going 5-5 from beyond the arc), while Jasper Moedt collected 22 points and 12 rebounds, both men showing why they are the seventh and eleventh-highest respective scorers in the Canada West. Franck Olivier Kouagnia led the Timberwolves with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cascades were ridiculous from downtown tonight, going 14-33 over 40 minutes. Aside from Parchment’s stellar numbers, UFV benefited from Manjodh Dulay’s 4-9 performance, and 2-4 from Amrit Gill. For the first time in recent memory, only one Cascade (Moedt) played more than thirty minutes during the game.

“We played a good 40 minutes tonight,” said Cascades head coach Adam Friesen. “A lot of good individual performances, but it was how we played together that excited me the most.”

The Cascades and Timberwolves will face off again Saturday in Prince George at 8 pm. Watch the game online at canadawest.tv
