UFV Volleyball Back In Action Against COTR Avalanche In Cranbrook, BC

Cascades volleyball finished their four game series in Cranbrook this afternoon with an even 2-2 split against the College of the Rockies Avalanche. The women, true to form, took Friday’s game 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-14), and repeated the feat on Saturday (25-13, 25-23, 25-16), to improve their record to 14-2 on the season.

“It was a complete team performance,” said head coach Dennis Bokenfohr of Friday’s game. “We had contributions through the entire lineup.”

The Cascades also dominated Saturday’s contest. “Nicole Blandford was a force, serving six aces,” said Bokenfohr. “Krista Hogewoning tallied 11 kills, and the middle trio of Kierra Noot, Emily Carroll, and Monique Huber were almost unstoppable and a consistent wall with their block.”

The men dropped both games, succumbing 0-3 on Friday (19-25, 21-25, 23-25) and also 0-3 on Saturday (23-25, 18-25, 15-25). UFV is now 5-11 on the season, which, while good for only seventh in the PACWEST, is still on track to exceed last season’s 6-18 finish.

“Not a great night for us. The opposition came up with an amazing match,” said head coach Greg Russell of Friday’s game.

UFV volleyball will travel to Douglas College next weekend to battle the Royals on Jan 24 and 25.
