Abbotsford, BC…..The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Women’s Basketball player Kayli Sartori and Men’s Soccer player Ryan Liddiard are the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athlete of the week, for the week ending on Sunday, November 3rd, 2013.
Sartori, led UFV to a pair of opening weekend victories over Lethbridge, 70-32 and Calgary, 60-36 at the Envision Athletic Centre. The UFV Cascades sport a 2-0 record and sit atop the Pacific Division of Canada West. UFV is ranked 4th in the CIS top ten poll. Kayli was high scorer in Friday’s victory with 15 points over Lethbridge. In addition to leading UFV in scoring the third year forward recorded 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in the opening weekend.

Liddiard, scored the game winning goal on Sunday, with eight minutes remaining to help UFV Cascades men’s soccer team earn the program’s first ever Canada West medal, as UFV defeated the University of Victoria Vikes, 2-1, in the bronze medal match. The fourth year Kamloops native was named “player of the game” for his excellent play on defense holding the powerful Victoria forwards at bay. Liddiard also made a brilliant defensive stop in UFV’s 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Alberta on Thursday at UBC.
