Abbotsford, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team, ranked number one in the CCAA top ten poll, defeated the VIU Mariners, 3-2, in PACWEST regular season action at the Envision Athletic Centre.  The Cascades are now 8-0 in conference play while VIU falls to 8-2, UFV has two games at hand.  The set scores were 24-26, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-7.

“Today was a great game. Claire (McLoughlin)was forced into action when Nicole (Blandford) went down with a sprained thumb. The entire team stepped up around her and we battled through a tough five setter. The turning point might of been when Emily (Carroll) went back in the 4th set to run off three straight service aces. What a complete team effort though,” said UFV head coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
