Golden Bears defeat Cascades

Ed007monton, AB – The University of the Fraser Valley men’s basketball lost 94-66 to the number four ranked University of Alberta Golden Bears on Friday.  The Golden Bears improve to 7-1 while the Cascades drop to 3-4.

Fourth-year forward Jasper Moedt led the Cascades with 12 points while Kadeem Willis chipped in with 11.  Klaus Figueredo, Kevin Ford and Manjodh Dulay all had 10-points apiece.  The Golden Bears were led by fifth-year forward Jordan Baker who finished with a team high 25 points.  The Golden Bears out-rebounded the Cascades 35-29.

“Alberta really showed their skill and experience against us and that’s why they are one of the top teams in the nation,” commented Cascades second-year head coach Adam Friesen.  “But we turned the ball over too many times and when you factor that in against a good team like Alberta, you’re going to be in tough. We’ll have to be better tomorrow against Saskatchewan if we want a split on this road trip.”

Alberta has had its winning ways against the Cascades in conference play.  Fraser Valley last defeated Alberta January 14, 2011.

The Cascades tip-off against the fifth ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies Saturday at 8pm, CST (6pm PST).  Watch the game online at https://www.ufvcascades.ca/gamezone/canadawest-tv/
