UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week, week ending Sunday, September 29th, 2013

Abbotsford, BC…..The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer defender Dylan Jordan and women’s soccer goalkeeper Kayla Klim are the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the week, for the week ending on Sunday, September 29th, 2013.

Jordan, a first year defender from Surrey, BC was instrumental in holding the young UNBC Timberwolves offense to one goal per match on the weekend, as UFV defeated UNBC, 2-1, on Friday and tied the Timberwolves, 1-1, on Saturday to improve their Pacific Division record to 4-3-1 for 13 points.  The first year Kinesiology major anchored the Cascades back four all weekend.  

“Dylan did a fantastic job marking the UNBC forwards holding them at bay,” commented UFV head coach Alan Errington.

Klim was named the Cascades “player of the match” for her outstanding play in Saturday’s 2-0 loss to the University of Victoria Vikes.  Klim recorded a career high 8 saves as Victoria registered 17 shots on goal.  The Cascades are 2-3-1 for 7 points midway through the Canada West regular season.   

“Kayla Klim was outstanding in goal, she made a couple great saves in the second half as we were pushing players forward,” said UFV head coach Rob Giesbrecht.

Live on the Drive Tonight

The UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week will be “live on the drive” each week on Marc Fitzgerald’s Drive 89.5FM sports radio show.  Between 6 and 6:30pm each Monday Marc will interview the two top Cascades from the previous week.  The radio show is taking place at Frankie’s Italian Kitchen & Bar in Chilliwack, BC and you can listen live on www.895thedrive.com
