Chilliwack, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s golf team has captured the 2013 PACWEST title with a team score of 950, a 50 stroke lead over second place VIU Mariners.  The Cascades are in their first year as a varsity program and led by veterans Jen Woods, Kelowna, BC and Dani Shap, Mission, BC won all three PACWEST tournaments this year going undefeated.  UFV will represent PACWEST at the 2013 CCAA Ping national championship tournament, in Quebec City, Quebec at the Royal Quebec Golf Club.  The Mariners also receive an invitation to the CCAA championships as the conference silver medalists.

In today’s final round of tournament three, UFV shot a 158 to capture the day and the weekend with a team score of 319.  The Mariners finished second with a team score of 171, on Sunday, 337 for the weekend.

The Cascades Dani Shap was crowned the 2013 PACWEST Individual Champion, with a cumulative score of  474 for the three tournaments.  Shap’s teammate Jen Woods finished second overall with a three tournament score of  480.  The VIU Mariners Kalli Gordon, Qualicum, BC finished third overall with a score of 491.

The Cascades will make their first appearance at the CCAA Ping national championships, October 15 to 18.  They are going into the tournament ranked number one in the CCAA top ten poll.
