UFV Cascades Men’s and Women’s Volleyball at CBC Bearcats split opening night with women winning 3-0, men falling 3-1

Abbotsford, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley women’s volleyball team opened defense of their CCAA national championship with a 3-0 victory over the CBC Bearcats at the Bearcats gymnasium, on Friday night.  The Cascades won the sets by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22.  UFV improves to 1-0 on the regular season and will opened the home schedule tonight hosting these same CBC Bearcats at 6pm in the Envision Athletic Centre.

“Nicole (Blandford) had a great game tonight. Recording four service aces and highlighted with a 10 point serving run in the first set. All and all a good start to the season,” commented UFV head coach Dennis Bokenfohr.  

The men’s volleyball team opened the 2013 PACWEST regular season with a 3-1 loss to the CBC Bearcats, after winning the first set 25-12, CBC would take three straight sets by scores of 25-21, 31-29 and 25-18 to send the Cascades to an opening night loss.  UFV hosts CBC tonight at 8pm, in the EAC.
